The pomegranate is also known for its beneficial properties: it is an excellent source of vitamins, potassium and antioxidant polyphenols.
A beloved presence on holiday tables because it is considered auspicious, it can be used not only to enrich many sweet and savory dishes and to prepare liqueurs, but also to make an excellent jam and healthy juice.
To preserve pomegranate jam, which is made in a few simple steps, you can use Lock-Eat food jars.
Ingredients:
- 3 pomegranates
- 1 green apple to use as a thickener
- 300 g brown sugar
Preparation:
Wash, peel and clean the green apple, then cut it into cubes.
Cut the pomegranates and squeeze out the juice, using a juicer, then strain it thoroughly.
Place the apple cubes and brown sugar in a saucepan and cook over a low flame. After about 10 minutes, add the pomegranate juice and leave to cook until the consistency of a compote is reached. Now pour the jam, still boiling hot, into the Lock-Eat food jars, close them with their caps and turn them upside down, leaving them in this position until the jam has completely cooled down.
In the meantime, sanitise the Lock-eat food jars for at least 10 minutes in boiling water, washing the seals separately, by hand with hot water.
Now transfer the jam, which is still boiling hot, into the Lock-Eat food jars; the containers must be lukewarm to avoid an excessive temperature change. Close them with their caps. To avoid breakage, do not place the jars on a cold surface such as marble or metal, preferably a wooden shelf. To avoid burns or scalds, we recommend handling the jars with gloves.
Place the food jars with jam in the pantry once they have cooled down.

The pomegranate juice alone, which you can also prepare with a blender by meticulously shelling the fruit to obtain just the kernels and then carefully filtering it, is a refreshing and healthy drink: perfect to have at breakfast or as a snack.
